Cultural and educational events
Today, as in many other areas of society, the emphasis on education, especially the education of young people, is changing.
“2020 will be a turning point in the state youth policy,” President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev remarked at a meeting with young people on December 27 at the Muhammad al-Khwarizmi School.
The work done at the Samarkand State Medical Institute on the education of patriotic youth with high spirituality, independent thinking, and a strong position in life is based on the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Decree No. PP-3160 “On increasing the effectiveness of spiritual and educational work,” which was signed on July 28, 2017.
It is carried out in collaboration with regional and city Khokimiyats, the Regional Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, law enforcement officers, religious leaders, public officials, and others.
The institute sponsored 14 group rounds and 5 faculty stages of the “Student of the Year” competition. In the contest “The Best Article” among republican universities, a student from our institute got first place with an article about patriotism. Our student also took first place in the competition for the “Best Anti-Corruption Poster” among the republic’s universities.
In a volleyball competition among regional universities in 2019, the institute’s girls’ team won first place, the handball team came in third, and table tennis came in third. There are now nine sporting clubs, up from seven previously.
The institute conducted round tables on the birthdays of Alisher Navoi, Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur, and Abdulla Kodiri, as well as Zulfiya, Ozod Sharofitdinov, Erkin Vahidov, Abdulla Aripov, and others, in collaboration with the Union of Writers of the Samarkand Region.
To popularize sewing among women and improve their social engagement, a sewing club has been founded in the dorms. In the past, special attention was devoted to the employment of females in the system “educational institution – family – mahalla” to reinforce the function and place of parents and the institution, mahalla. Throughout the year, activities such as “Defense of Motherland – an Honorary Duty of Every Citizen,” “Hokim and Youth,” and “Rector and Youth” are organized in support of five programs.
Terrorism, religious extremism, fanaticism, separatism, human trafficking, “mass culture,” and other threats are effectively combated by holding meetings and roundtables with students to provide insight into the meaning and significance of complex geopolitical and ideological processes in the world.
To ensure the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Combating Corruption” and the Ministry’s project “Sector without Corruption,” a series of lectures, round tables, legal and educational work with the participation of scientists and law enforcement agencies was held to further enrich and shape students’ knowledge.
Excursions of the Institute’s teaching staff to historical landmarks across the country are conducted to ensure the implementation of the Internal Tourism Development Program.
